Mahmood is an industrial engineer with primary focus on supply chain management and lean manufacturing. In the last eight years, he has worked on the evaluation of supply chain networks for various types of feedstocks including woody biomass, agricultural residues, dedicated energy crops, sugarcane residues, oilseed crops and municipal solid waste. These supply chain networks were developed for commercial scale bioenergy plants including cellulosic ethanol, biojet, electricity and heating. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Ph.D. in Biomass Supply Chain Management. He is the co-author of two books on "Lean Manufacturing" and "Lean Supply Chain". His passion is in finding innovative ways of implementing the best supply chain management practices from mature industries into the bioeconomy.
